I had the opportunity to give my 1100 a run and found the top speed is about 180kmh or 110mph it seems it should go better than that or am I expecting to much

That's what the bike is electronically limited to.
I've brought mine to approx 112mph (on a track or runway or closed road, of course 
) but that extra 2mph is most likely an optimistic speedo.
You can raise the top speed by changing out the ECU, to say a Dyno 3000 ignition. It has options to raise the rev limit thereby giving you higher stop speed in each gear. Wouldn't recommend going much overboard though without thoroughly researching what you're doing, the engine was designed for the revs it works at stock so going beyond the stock redline may well be dangerous.

There are a lot of reasons to not up your rev limiter on any production bike without doing some engine & driveline modification work to make it all function right & last.
Main one I'd worry about is whether your oil pump, filter, journals & lines can keep up with the increased revs. Run out of oil or oil pressure and you won't be going fast for long without buying a new engine.

When my '05 1100 Custom was stock i reached 110mph, then the factory rev limit kicked in. When i installed my mods, including Dyna 3000, i raised limit only 500rpm because i believe the 1100 motor is a (upper)midrange motor. I don't normally ride that fast.

Ummmm...what's your top speed limit in your country? I know I'm not going to go 110 mph on my bike...ever.

the stock 950 has a top speed of 100mph. once i changed out my pipes and air kit and added a fuel processor i got it up to 115mph. may have gone a tad bit faster but that's when i decided to back off

When i had my 1100 with the max air kit and cobra 2-1's i had it up to 118mph but it was not a happy camper. My current honda CBF600 can stretch to 130mph but again its not a speed bike.

Ummmm...what's your top speed limit in your country? I know I'm not going to go 110 mph on my bike...ever.

Sorry, but I'm not a speed demon..
Been up between 80-90 mph passing an 18wheeler out on the open freeway and thats about all the speed I need.
I like to cruise along in comfort, no too sure I want to go any faster.

thats what i was like when i started out, just like to cruise along. but lately all im interested in is going faster.. i'm buying a rocket 3 in december when my license restriction wears off, that bike does 0-60 in less than 3 secs and speed limited to 140mph.. but im already thinking thats not fast enough
not because i want to hooligan ride or test my grip by cruising on a naked bike at more than 140mph but because the acceleration rate of any vehicle dies off as it approaches top speed.
for example, the rocket and any big sport bike are more or less the same from 0 to the speed limit, but the sports will probably top out at 160 to 186mph, meaning it will accelerate faster from say 70 or 80 onwards than the rocket will.
e.g. making an overtake i.e. going from 60 or 70 to 90 to get by a line of cages before a bend gets too close etc, the 1000cc + sportbike is way ahead.
